The Life Experience with Different cultures and religions.

Mr. Deepal Sooriarachchi is a well-known figure in Sri Lankan business industry who is a Management Consultant, Author, Trainer, Speaker, Accredited Master Coach and also an Accredited Master Mentor (AMC, AMM). This is what his Linked-in profile says about him.

He currently serves on its board as well as the boards of Sampath Bank, Pan Asian Power, Hemas Manufacturing as a Non-Executive Independent Director, and is a member of the council of the University of Moratuwa. He also functions as the Commissioner of Sri Lanka Inventors Commission and has given leadership to a number of national level initiatives to promote innovativeness in the country during the last two years since he was appointed the commissioner.”

On the 21st of November 2018 he came to address us to the UCSC Auditorium accepting the invitation of the Mr.Nandasara Sir who is the in-charge of this program. This article is about the speech that he made on that day.

At first, he talked about the education that he had in his earlier life. He discussed about the technology that he used to use in his childhood. When he came to describe his life that he spent he described that how he risen up his life after when he was failed Advanced Level examination.

Then he started the story of his journey. He mentioned that,
"In university we have given lesson before the test,
but in life we have given the test first then the lesson.”
It made me thinkable of dealing with life carefully. He was a

He is a Buddhist who has not studied Buddhism. He hasn’t even attended a temple school. The changing point was his exploration of religions began with a seeing of a foreign monk as a contingence. He has met him in a funeral of his relative. He has talked to the monk and it made him interested learning Buddhism. He is a ‘act-of-truth’ believer which is called ‘Sathyakriya’. He has observed Hindu, Islam, Jewish & Catholic religions travelling through Jaffna, India, Pakistan, Europe Countries & Japan. It remembered me the movie “Life of PI”.

We understood the importance of ‘living one day at a time’ after he said,
“Worries are coming from past&Fears are coming from future”
We have to deal with that. The past creates the present, the present creates the future. So we have to do the right thing in the present to ensure the future. Think critically, “how what you are doing now is affects the future?”. It is the way that you would come to your best performance. It has answered the question that I was always thinking “how to optimize my performance?”.
He apologizes us for introducing lunch sheets to Sri Lanka. He asked us to listen people like the last day we live. Then he gave us a relationship advice how to deal with your partner’s mistakes. It was a simple thing. We only have to
  1. Describe the situation without any adjectives.
  2. Tell him/her what you think about that situation.

It is a pretty simple way to avoid arguments. When your partner has unhealthy habits you can describe that he is not arrange his clothes properly,. not washing the mug after drinking tea... bla bla bla... without any adjective and tell him it feels like he/her doesn't love you. He/her will think about that and it will avoid the argument.

Mr. Sooriarachchi is a good speaker & a mentor. He spent a good time with him. We learnt more & we laughed more. I hope to read his autobiography ‘Living Together’.We are very thankful to you for the moment. Blessings for your healthy longevity!
